Author Bio
Karen Dustman is an author with over a dozen non-fiction books and hundreds of magazine articles in print. She’s written about everything from natural health to pets, but her very favorite topic is local history. A resident of Woodfords since 2003, Karen has published multiple books about Alpine County history including the definitive history of Silver Mountain City and has become the “go-to” person for Alpine County history. She also publishes a free monthly newsletter of history tales about Carson Valley and surrounding communities.
Karen’s two most recent books are “King of the Comstock South,” a biography of Lewis Chalmers (Alpine County’s own wannabe silver king), and the fourth book in “The Old Genoa Cemetery” series.
The Writers’ Wednesday Lecture Series, held the second Wednesday of each month, features a different author who takes part in a book signing, a presentation and a question-and-answer session with the audience. A wine and cheese reception precedes the lecture.
The intent of the program is to highlight writers who specifically focus on Nevada, the Great Basin, or the West in general. The authors talk about the content of their books but also share details about the creative process.
