NSM Winter Volunteer Tour Guide Training

Learn to be a tour guide at the Nevada State Museum. Meet like-minded people and give back to the community. Most tours are for elementary school children, but guides also conduct adult tours. No experience is necessary, but flexibility and people skills are a must! 

Both new and experienced guides are encouraged to attend all four days of training, Feb. 16-17 and 23-24. Lectures, potlucks, and a variety of stimulating activities enrich the learning environment.  

Week one includes the lecture, USS Nevada: 100th Birthday, by Curator of History, Bob Nylen; tour of the historic Carson City Mint; Dayton (history) by Laura Tennant and Jack Folmar; JW and Annie Davis: Their Riveting Lives by Kathleen Clemence; and Prehistoric Sandals by Pat Barker. In week two, discover fun and exciting projects that incorporate both art and science: Wetland Birds by Alan Gubanich, Education Chair, Lahontan Audubon Society; plus Wild and Wonderful Wetlands; Beastly Encounters: Animals of Nevada; and Water in Nevada.
