Ride the Rails with Santa at a State Railroad Museum

The holiday season is upon us and the Nevada State Railroad Museums are getting into the spirit! Visit Carson City or Boulder City and take a ride on a festive holiday train.

Carson City

The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City is hosting train rides for families with Santa during the first three weekends in December. The Santa Train has eleven rides a day on Saturdays and Sundays from December 2 through December 17. Hours are 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., running every 30 minutes.

The Santa Train includes treats, warm refreshments, and raffle prizes. Tickets are $5 per person and available at the door or in advance through the ticket office.

The Museum is also offering Santa Grams this year. Get a customized video from Santa before Christmas, starting at $20.

Boulder City

The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City is hosting day and evening train rides during the holiday season.

A family tradition since 2002, the Santa Train is a daytime event with four rides a day on Saturdays and Sundays, from November 25 through December 23. It includes a 40 minute train ride, meet and greet with Santa, and holiday music.

Tickets are $10 per person and available at the door or in advance through their ticket office.

The evening event, The Boulder City North Pole Express, is a two-hour experience that includes a train ride, holiday music and stories, cookies and hot cocoa, games and activities (including a “snowball” fight), photos with Santa, and more! The North Pole Express runs November 24 through December 20, with several departure times.

Tickets are $30-$50 for adults and $25-$45 for children. The North Pole Express is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Nevada Southern Railway, who support the museum in its preservation and education missions. Tickets for this event are available here.
